The Atacama Desert is located in Northern Chile. Its is known as the worlds driest desert. The Tropic of Capricorn runs through this desert. Some areas in the desert only get moisture from a casual fog or a rain fall once in every few decades. Some places in the desert haven't received rainfall in over 400 years. Unlike other deserts we would think of this desert is high in elevation and cold. The Atacama Desert has a limited population.
