The Sierra Madres is located in Western Mexico. The mountain range extends from Arizona to Sierra Madre del Sur. There is a difference between the Sierra Madre Occidental and Sierra Madre Oriental. The Occiedental is in Western Mexico while the Oriental is in Northeastern Mexico. 
 The Sierra Madres are 6,000 to 12,000 (1,829 - 3,658m) feet high. 

Sierra Madres Occidental

   The Sierra Madres Occidental forms the Western border of the Mexican Plateu. Its elevation is 8,000 to 9,000 (2,400 - 2,700 metres) feet. The Occidental extends about 700 miles (1,100 km) from north to south. 

Sierra Madres Oriental 

A range of gathered mountains made of shales and limestones. This part of the Sierra Madres is located on the Eastern part of the Mexican Plateu. In most situations referred to as the extension of the Rocky Mountains. 

Sierra Madre Del Sur

The Sierra Madre Del Sur is located in Southern Mexico. Its highest point is 12,149 feet (3,703 Metres). It will reach to about 7,000 - 8,000 feet (2,100 - 2,400 metres).
